Hiyari Map Development Workshop 2005

As the research project “Study on Alternative Methods to Support Traffic Safety Measures in Thailand” commissioned by ＩＡＴＳＳ in 2005, four sub-studies and workshops were conducted for acquiring the characteristics of traffic accidents and Hiyari incidents, and identify the Hiyari locations (or potential traffic accident locations) in Udon Thani and Samut Prakarn in Thailand.

■ 1st study
In August 2005, workshop and questionnaire survey for university students and local people were held for collecting Hiyari data and developing Hiyari map.

1st workshop
During 24-26 August 2005, we held workshop for developing Hiyari map and verifying the identifications of Hiyari locations in Hotel. 15 officials and local people (e.g., policemen, teacher, mini-bus and motorcycle taxi drivers, etc) participated and identified 308 Hiyari experiences and 127 black spot locations.


Questionnaire survey
On 22 Aug 2006, questionnaire survey was done to 32 students of UdonThaniRajabhatUniversity, and on 27 Aug 2006 done to 163 local people. Questionnaire asked about Hiyari locations and situation of Hiyari experience. We got 40 Hiyari experiences and 27 Hiyari locations from university student, and 150 Hiyari experiences and 75 Hiyari locations from local people.
　　　　　　 　　　　


■ 2nd study
In Feb 2006, we held the 2nd workshop and conducted the questionnaire survey at night time.

2nd workshop
The 2nd workshop was held for developing Hiyari map of community in hall of high school. Mr. Asawin, a secondary school teacher who participated in last workshop, gave us the collaboration to gather participants and prepare venue for this workshop. Hiyari maps were developed by 17 local people. 366 Hiyari experiences and 106 Hiyari locations were identified.


Questionnaire survey at night time
Questionnaire survey was conducted at night during 25 and 26 Feb 2006. The purpose of this survey was to collect data of Hiyari experience happened at night, because we could not get it by last survey. 80 Hiyari experiences and 42 Hiyari locations were collected.
　　　　　　 　　　　


■ Study in Samut Purakarn
■ Pilot survey
On 19-20 Mar 2005, the questionnaire survey was conducted to local people. 150 Hiyari experiences and 57 Hiyari locations were identified, and data of traffic situation and road shape, traffic signal were collected by visiting the Hiyari spots.

■ 1st study
1st workshop
On 2 Mar 2006, workshop was held for introduction of Hiyari method and developing Hiyari map in Honda Safety Riding Center. Hiyari map was developed by 18 people (e.g., rescue members, motorcycle taxi drivers, etc). 438 Hiyari experiences and 186 Hiyari locations were identified.
